It's official. A congressional health education program has been anchored in honor of men. In an effort to make men aware and offer the support and information that is crucial to their health, organizations all over the country recently celebrated Men's Health Month.
Men's health month should be the month men visit their doctors, set up exercise routines and become aware of the things they can do to keep healthy. Some great ways to celebrate men's health month include:
- Focus on your weight, making sure you're aware of rapid weight gain
- Work can be stressful, especially these days; take time to relax
- Visit your physician for a check-up regularly
- Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, especially those rich in antioxidants
- Eliminate unhealthy habits such as smoking and excessive drinking
- Stay physically active
When it comes to heart disease and cancer, seeing a physician regularly can decrease your risk. When celebrating Men's Health Month next year, Boston Medical Group would recommend that you take time to realize that you are the one in control of your health. If you have a difficult time remember when to visit your doctor or a physician at the Boston Medical Group, schedule your appointments for the week of your birthday- keeping a regular date is always a good reminder.

Glad to see men's health awareness steadily rising. However, maybe instead of lumping all health concerns into one month of awareness, how about focusing on a specific issue, similar to "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" for women?
